Crossword Genius

Improvement achieved in Bible class? (6)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

reform

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'improvement' is the definition.
(I know that reform is a type of improvement)

'achieved in bible class?' is the wordplay.
I cannot really understand how this works, but
'class?' could be 'form' (form class is a kind of class) and 'form' is found in the answer.
The remaining letters 're' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for reform that I've seen before include "Show improvement" , "Abandon evil practices" , "Mend one's ways" , "Removal of abuses" , "Correct(ion of) abuses" .)

I've seen this clue in The Times.
