In bad odour? (6)
I believe the answer is:
smelly
'in bad' is the definition.
'smelly' can be an answer for 'bad' (thesaurus). I am not sure about the 'in' bit.
'odour?' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'odour?' could be 'smell' ('smell' can be a synonym of 'odour') and 'smell' is found in the answer.
A single letter 'y' remains which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This explanation may well be incorrect...

(Other definitions for smelly that I've seen before include "Foetid" , "Putrid" , "Having a bad odour" , "Off - humming" , "Odorous" .)
