In Madrid, the consistent team? (6)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

eleven

'team?' is the definition.
(eleven is a kind of team)

'in madrid the consistent' is the wordplay.
'in madrid' becomes 'el' (I can't explain this - if you can you should believe this answer much more).
'the consistent' becomes 'even' (I've seen this before).
'el'+'even'='ELEVEN'

(Other definitions for eleven that I've seen before include "Football or cricket team?" , "one by one?" , "Football team; number" , "Lowest two-digit prime" , "Number, on a team maybe" .)

I've seen this clue in The Guardian.
