aired

'given publicity' is the definition.
The definition and answer can be both related to change as well as being past participle verbs.
Perhaps there's a link between them I don't understand?

'in the present era anger' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'anger' could be 'ire' (ire is intense rage) and 'ire' is found within the answer.
'present' could be 'ad' (AD, Anno Domini, as opposed to BC, Before Christ) and 'ad' is present in the leftover letters.
This accounts for all the letters.
This explanation may well be incorrect...

'is' acts as a link.

(Other definitions for aired that I've seen before include "Vented to or exposed to breeze" , "Exposed for drying" , "Raised" , "Exposed to breeze for freshening - say damp clothes" , "Expressed publicly" .)

I've seen this clue in The Irish News.
