Inclined to blow one's top? (8)
I believe the answer is:
volcanic
'inclined' is the definition.
Both the answer and definition are adjectives. Maybe you can see an association between them that I can't see?
'blow one's top?' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'one' could be 'an' (an apple is one apple) and 'an' is located in the answer.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
'to' is the link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for volcanic that I've seen before include "Liable to erupt" , "Like pumice" , "Relating to eruption in earth's surface" , "Of lava-producing fissures" , "Relating to fissures which produce lava" .)
