Indicated boredom with study way back (6)
I believe the answer is:
yawned
'indicated boredom' is the definition.
Although both the answer and definition are past participle verbs, I can't see how one could define the other.
'with study way back' is the wordplay.
'with' says to put letters next to each other.
'study' becomes 'den' (I've seen this before).
'back' says the letters should be written backwards.
'den' next to 'way' is 'denway'.
'denway' back-to-front is 'YAWNED'.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for yawned that I've seen before include "Showed tiredness or boredom" , "Showed tiredness or tedium" , "Gaped, wide open" , "Showed that one was tired" , "Gaped, with tiredness?" .)
