Individual copies turned over with speed (8)

Ross

I think it could be either:

separate

delaware

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'individual' is the definition.
Although both the answer and definition are singular nouns, I cannot see how they can define each other.

'copies turned over with speed' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'over' could be 're' and 're' is found within the answer.
'with' could be 'w' (abbreviation) and 'w' is present in the answer.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for delaware that I've seen before include "Atlantic state of the US" , "NE US state" , "state of the east" , "Award eel to US state" , "American state, capital Dover" .)

I've seen this clue in The Times, The Telegraph and The Sun.
