I believe the answer is:

imagery

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'descriptive language' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)

'individual receives magazine early oddly' is the wordplay.
'individual' becomes 'i' (Roman numeral for one, ie individual).
'receives magazine' becomes 'mag' (I can't explain this - if you can you should give a lot more credence to this answer).
'oddly' indicates alternate letters (letters in the odd-numbered positions are used).
The alternate letters of 'early' are 'ery'.
'i'+'mag'+'ery'='IMAGERY'

'it uses very' is the link.
I am not very happy about this link. Some or all of it may be part of another bit of the clue.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for imagery that I've seen before include "I'm gayer (anag)" , "Use of language to produce pictures in the mind" , "paintings" , "Visual symbolism" , "Language that produces pictures in readers' minds" .)

I've seen this clue in The Irish Times.
