Instruction to get Tina in make-up? (3,5)

I believe the answer is:
war paint
'make-up?' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)
'instruction to get tina' is the wordplay.
I cannot really understand how this works, but
an anagram of 'tina' is 'aint' which is present in the answer.
The remaining letters 'warp' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
'in' acts as a link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for war paint that I've seen before include "Make-up (for native Americans?)" , "Cosmetics" , "Make-up (colloq.)" , "Make-up's required" , "Facial decoration showing hostile intent" .)
