Intends to have what it takes (5)
I believe the answer is:
means
'intends' is the definition.
('mean' can be a synonym of 'intend')
'what it takes' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'it' could be 'e' ('e' can mean 'electronic' which is similar to 'IT') and 'e' is found in the answer.
The remaining letters 'mans' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).
'to have' acts as a link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for means that I've seen before include "Available resources" , "Averages" , "Income, wealth" , "Medium used to achieve a result" , "Intends; income" .)
