Intoxicated by British gambling (6)
I believe the answer is:
blotto
'intoxicated' is the definition.
(similar in meaning)
'british gambling' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'british' could be 'b' (abbreviation e.g. in 'BBC') and 'b' is present in the answer.
The remaining letters 'lotto' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
'by' is the link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for blotto that I've seen before include "Drunken" , "wrecked" , "Extremely drunk" , "Tight" , "Cockeyed drunk" .)
