Irruption from broken drain, nothing to stop it (6)

I believe the answer is:
inroad
'irruption' is the definition.
(thesaurus)
'broken drain nothing to stop it' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'nothing' could be 'o' (looks like zero - 0) and 'o' is located in the answer.
an anagram of 'drain' is 'inrad' which is within the left over letters.
No letters remain.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
'from' is the link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for inroad that I've seen before include "Foray" , "Ordain (anag.)" , "Encroachment; hostile attack" , "Encroachment, intrusion" , "Incursion, raid" .)
