Is it made from brushwood? (5)
I believe the answer is:
broom
'brushwood?' is the definition.
Although both the answer and definition are singular nouns, I cannot see how they can define each other.
'is it made from' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'from' could be 'o' (I've seen this in other clues) and 'o' is found within the answer.
The remaining letters 'brom' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for broom that I've seen before include "one's often fitted in a cupboard" , "cleaner" , "Leguminous shrub" , "Yellow-flowered shrub" , "Sweeper (said twice for a car!)" .)
