Is she a match for Lucifer? (5)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

vesta

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'match for lucifer?' is the definition.
'vesta' can be an answer for 'match' (type of historical wooden match). I am not certain of the 'for lucifer?' bit.

'is she a' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'she' could be 'esta' and 'esta' is located in the answer.
A single letter 'v' remains which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for vesta that I've seen before include "Roman goddess of the hearth" , "Roman goddess; match" , "Asteroid; goddess; match" , "heavenly body" , "Hearth goddess; a match" .)

I've seen this clue in the Evening Standard.
