I cannot quite see how this works, but
'island' could be 'i' (geographical abbreviation) and 'i' is located in the answer.
an anagram of 'such' is 'schu' which is present in the remaining letters.
'an' could be 'a' and 'a' is located in the answer.
A single letter 'n' remains which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
