Perhaps you can see a link between them that I can't see?

I cannot really see how this works, but
'it' could be 't' (abbreviation. e.g. in 'tis) and 't' is found within the answer.
'one' could be 'sole' (synonyms) and 'sole' is located in the remaining letters.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
