It's anything but fair play! (7)
I believe the answer is:
tempest
'play' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)
'it's anything but fair' is the wordplay.
I cannot really understand how this works, but
'it's' could be 'es' ('e' can mean 'electronic' which is similar to 'IT') and 'es' is present in the answer.
The remaining letters 'tempt' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for tempest that I've seen before include "violent agitation" , "Shakespeare play with storm scene" , "Bad weather" , "Outburst" , "violent uproar" .)
