I believe the answer is:

knitting needle

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'joining together to annoy them which appears to be pointed?' is the definition.
Although both the answer and definition are singular nouns, I can't see how they can define each other.

'joining together to annoy' is the wordplay.
'joining together' becomes 'knitting' (knitting is a kind of joining. I am not sure about the 'together' bit.).
'to annoy' becomes 'needle' (needle can mean to annoy or irritate).
'knitting'+'needle'='KNITTING-NEEDLE'

Can you help me to learn more?

(Another definition for knitting needle that I've seen is " Pin for wool".)

I've seen this clue in The Irish Times.
