Joker with trick taking in the press, TV, etc. (8)

I believe the answer is:
comedian
'joker' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)
'trick taking in the press tv etc' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'press' could be 'media' (the press is part of the media) and 'media' is present in the answer.
'trick' could be 'con' (a con is a fraud or trick) and 'con' is present in the leftover letters.
No letters remain.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).
'with' acts as a link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for comedian that I've seen before include "scream?" , "Stand-up" , "Demoniac (anag.)" , "Any Python for instance" , "Demoniac kind of funny man" .)
