Keep tabs on timepiece (5)
I believe the answer is:
watch
'timepiece' is the definition.
(I know that watch is a type of timepiece)
'keep tabs on' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'on' could be 'at' (I've seen this in other clues) and 'at' is present in the answer.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for watch that I've seen before include "Keep an eye on - timepiece" , "Keep under observation" , "Look at attentively" , "Timepiece - look out" , "See 21" .)
