Crossword Genius

Kids like going into the stands (6)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

teases

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'kids' is the definition.
(I've seen this in another clue)

'like going into the stands' is the wordplay.
'like' becomes 'as'.
'going into' means one lot of letters goes inside another.
'the stands' becomes 'tees' (I can't explain this - if you can you should believe this answer much more).
'as' placed inside 'tees' is 'TEASES'.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for teases that I've seen before include "is tantalising" , "Provokes in playful way" , "Provokes in playful manner" , "Vexes playfully" , "Banters, pulls leg" .)

I've seen this clue in the Evening Standard.
