I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'an oddity' is the definition.
(thesaurus)

'kind person who's something' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'something' could be 'er' (I've seen this in other clues) and 'er' is found in the answer.
The remaining letters 'charact' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).

'of' is the link.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for character that I've seen before include "Stamp < letter" , "case" , "Role - nature" , "card" , "Part" .)

I've seen this clue in the Evening Standard.
