Kneaded dough -- the Quakers just made it (8,7)
I believe the answer is:
squeaked through
'made it' is the definition.
Although both the answer and definition are past participle verbs, I don't see how they can define each other.
'kneaded dough the quakers' is the wordplay.
'kneaded' indicates an anagram (I've seen 'kneading' mean this (letters shaped or kneaded into a new form)).
'dough'+'the'+'quakers'='doughthequakers'
'doughthequakers' is an anagram of 'SQUEAKED THROUGH'.
'just' is the link.
