Crossword Genius

Lad from Cumbrian town, a street trader

Ross

I believe the answer is:

barrow boy

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'trader' is the definition.
(I have seen 'Itinerant trader' mean 'barrow boy' so perhaps 'trader' could also mean 'barrow boy')

I can't explain the rest of the clue.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for barrow boy that I've seen before include "Lad from shipbuilding centre" , "Street vendor" , "Costermonger" , "Itinerant trader" , "street-seller?" .)

I've seen this clue in The Telegraph.
