Laid back about bad press for broadcast (9)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

dispersal

'for broadcast' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)

'laid back about bad press' is the wordplay.
'back' says the letters should be written backwards.
'about' means one lot of letters goes inside another.
'bad' indicates an anagram.
'laid' in reverse letter order is 'dial'.
'press' anagrammed gives 'spers'.
'dial' going around 'spers' is 'DISPERSAL'.

(Other definitions for dispersal that I've seen before include "Dissemination" , "broadcast" , "Scattering" , "Distribution over a wide area" , "Natural spread of seed" .)

I've seen this clue in The Independent.
