Language of spirits the King articulated when tipsy? (6)
I believe the answer is:
elvish
'tipsy?' is the definition.
Both the definition and answer are adjectives. Maybe there's a link between them I don't understand?
'language of spirits the king articulated' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
'king' could be 'elvis' (I have seen 'The King' mean 'elvis' so perhaps 'king' could also mean 'elvis') and 'elvis' is found in the answer.
A single letter 'h' remains which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
'when' is the link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for elvish that I've seen before include "Rather mischievous" , "Tolkienian language" , "Fairy language" , "hobby?" .)
