Last lot* silly? Each to his own (2,5,3,5)
I believe the answer is:
it takes all sorts
'his own' is the definition.
I know nothing about this answer so I can't judge whether this works.
'last lot silly? each' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'last' could be 't' (I've seen this in other clues) and 't' is found in the answer.
'each' could be 'all' ('all' can be similar in meaning to 'each') and 'all' is found within the answer.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
'to' is the link.
(Other definitions for it takes all sorts that I've seen before include "everyone has different ideas" , "Saying" , "people have different opinions" .)
