I believe the answer is:

stanza

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'lines of verse' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)

'laurel's recited a few' is the wordplay.
'laurel' becomes 'stan' (comedian Stan Laurel is an example).
'recited a few' becomes 'za' (I can't explain this - if you can you should give a lot more credence to this answer).
'stan'+'za'='STANZA'

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for stanza that I've seen before include "Part of a poem" , "Lines forming a unit of verse" , "A verse of poetry" , "piece by poet" , "piece of poetry" .)

I've seen this clue in The Guardian.
