Leant over and gave some money to (6)
I believe the answer is:
tipped
'leant' is the definition.
('tip' can be a synonym of 'lean')
'and gave some money to' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
'money' could be 'tip' (money given for service) and 'tip' is located in the answer.
The remaining letters 'ped' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
'over' is the link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for tipped that I've seen before include "Given a gratuity" , "Gave reward (to waiter)" , "Predicted to be a winner" , "Crowned" , "Gave gratuity to or touched" .)
