Leaving university, innocent boy gets real drunk, mainly (2,7)
I believe the answer is:
in general
'mainly' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)
'leaving university innocent boy gets real drunk' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'boy' could be 'gene' and 'gene' is present in the answer.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for in general that I've seen before include "Commonly" , "Not particularly" , "by and large" , "Mostly" , "on the whole" .)
