Crossword Genius

Like act that goes west after Dynamo's first trick (5)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

dodge

'trick' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)

'like act that goes west after dynamo's first' is the wordplay.
'like' becomes 'eg' (I've seen this in other clues).
'act' becomes 'do' (to do is to act or execute a task).
'that goes west' says the letters should be written backwards.
'after' is a charade indicator (letters next to each other).
'dynamo's first' becomes 'd' (est letter of 'dynamo').
'eg'+'do'='egdo'
'egdo' backwards is 'odge'.
'odge' put after 'd' is 'DODGE'.

(Other definitions for dodge that I've seen before include "Avoid by a quick move" , "Duck, move to avoid" , "bypass" , "Take evasive action" , "Cunning move" .)

I've seen this clue in The Telegraph.
