I believe the answer is:

winning

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'first in the charm competition?' is the definition.
The answer and definition can be both acts as well as being singular nouns.
Maybe there's a link between them I don't understand?

'like the girl who's coming' is the wordplay.
I cannot really understand how this works, but
'girl' could be 'winni' and 'winni' is found within the answer.
This explanation may well be incorrect...

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for winning that I've seen before include "Appealing" , "Attractive; coming top" , "Persuasive; on top" , "collecting cash?" .)

I've seen this clue in the Evening Standard.
