Line taken by Brazil and Indonesia? (7)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

equator

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'line' is the definition.
(equator is a kind of line)

'taken by brazil and indonesia?' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'by' could be 'at' and 'at' is found in the answer.
This explanation may well be incorrect...

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for equator that I've seen before include "Line of 0 degrees latitude" , "Line separating northern and southern hemispheres" , "Imaginary line around the centre of the earth" , "A circle around earth's centre" , "The great circle" .)

I've seen this clue in The Mirror.
