Crossword Genius

Little creature of high birth (6)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

eaglet

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

This might be a double definition.

'little creature' is the first definition.
(I know that eaglet is a type of young bird)

'high birth' is the second definition.
Although both the answer and definition are singular nouns, I cannot see how they can define each other.

'of' is the link.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for eaglet that I've seen before include "another of the golden generation?" , "Young keen-sighted bird" , "Young lawyer" , "Fledgling" , "young flier?" .)

I've seen this clue in The Globe and Mail and The Irish News.
