Little fish always drawing the large in (5)
I believe the answer is:
elver
'little fish' is the definition.
(young eel)
'always drawing the large in' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'large' could be 'l' (eg in clothes sizes) and 'l' is located in the answer.
'always' could be 'ever' (synonyms) and 'ever' is present in the leftover letters.
No letters remain.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for elver that I've seen before include "Immature eel" , "Young, migrating eel" , "Young slippery fish" , "slippery little thing" , "Slippery youngster" .)
