Crossword Genius

Live: hit music genre (5)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

bebop

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'music genre' is the definition.
Although both the answer and definition are singular nouns, I can't see how one could define the other.

'live hit' is the wordplay.
'live' becomes 'be' (synonyms).
'hit' becomes 'bop' (bopping is a kind of hitting).
'be'+'bop'='BEBOP'

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for bebop that I've seen before include "Monk composed this" , "1940s' jazz characterised by virtuosity" , "Jazz genre" , "1940s' form of modern jazz" , "Jazzy music style" .)

I've seen this clue in The Mirror.
