Live in pristine Middle-Eastern tower (7)
I believe the answer is:
minaret
'tower' is the definition.
(I know that minaret is a type of tower)
'live in pristine' is the wordplay.
'live' becomes 'are' ('they live' means 'they are').
'in' means one lot of letters goes inside another.
'pristine' becomes 'mint' (I've seen this in another clue).
'are' put inside 'mint' is 'MINARET'.
'middle-eastern' is the link.
I am not very happy about this link. It may belong to another bit of the clue.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for minaret that I've seen before include "Tower attached to mosque" , "Mosque's tower" , "Slim tower of a mosque" , "Mosque spire" , "Tower from which muezzin calls Muslims to prayer" .)
