Local gumshoe that's heard of a poet (6)
I believe the answer is:
bardic
'poet' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)
'local gumshoe that's heard' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'local' could be 'bar' (local can mean someone's local pub) and 'bar' is located in the answer.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
'of a' is the link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for bardic that I've seen before include "Like an Eisteddfod poet" , "of a Welsh poet" , "Relating to Celtic poets" , "Like an ancient poet" , "Poetic" .)
