Local has got away to see poet’s desert island (9)
I believe the answer is:
innisfree
'island' is the definition.
(Irish island)
'local has got away to see poet's desert' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'local' could be 'inn' (I've seen this before) and 'inn' is found in the answer.
This may be the basis of clue (or it may be nonsense).
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for innisfree that I've seen before include "Island" , "` `I will arise and go now / and go to .........' ' (Yeats)" , "The Lake Isle of --, (W. B. Yeats)" .)
