Londoner's mate from the Potteries? (5)
I believe the answer is:
china
'londoner's mate' is the definition.
'china' can be an answer for 'mate' (cockney rhyming slang, mate is china plate). I am not sure about the 'londoner's' bit.
'from the potteries?' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
'from' could be 'in' (I've seen this in other clues) and 'in' is located in the answer.
The remaining letters 'cha' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for china that I've seen before include "Country; friend (slang)" , "chum" , "Ceramic material" , "Ceramics; friend" , "Ceramic; country" .)
