Lot put off by Arthurian Knight’s weapon (5)
I believe the answer is:
lance
'knight's weapon' is the definition.
(I've seen this in another clue)
'lot put off by arthurian' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'lot' could be 'c' and 'c' is found in the answer.
The remaining letters 'lane' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for lance that I've seen before include "Knightly weapon" , "Weapon of knights of old" , "Cut open" , "fish" , "Surgical knife" .)
