Made for the top, as editor (6)
I believe the answer is:
headed
'made for' is the definition.
The answer and definition can be both to do with motion as well as being past participle verbs.
Perhaps they are linked in a way I don't understand?
'the top as editor' is the wordplay.
'top' means to remove the first letter.
'as' becomes 'ad' (I can't explain this - if you can you should give a lot more credence to this answer).
'editor' becomes 'ed'.
'the' with its initial letter taken off is 'he'.
'he'+'ad'+'ed'='HEADED'
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for headed that I've seen before include "Led" , "Titled; topped" .)
