Make progress in timber production (6)
I believe the answer is:
lumber
This clue might be a double definition.
'make progress' is the first definition.
Although both the answer and definition are verbs in their base form, I can't see how one could define the other.
'timber production' is the second definition.
The definition and answer can be both man-made objects as well as being singular nouns.
Maybe there's a link between them I don't understand?
'in' is the link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for lumber that I've seen before include "Clumsily move - junk" , "Sawn timber" , "Walk heavily carrying wood?" , "Cut timber - useless objects" , "Move clumsily - Jack's wood?" .)
