Make up for location where actors rest (6)
I believe the answer is:
offset
'make up for' is the definition.
(I've seen this in another clue)
'location where actors rest' is the wordplay.
I cannot really understand how this works, but
'location' could be 'set' (set is a kind of location) and 'set' is present in the answer.
The remaining letters 'off' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for offset that I've seen before include "Amount by which something is out of line" , "Amount by which a thing is out of line" , "Place at an angle to the main alignment" , "Counteract to compensate" , "Distance out of line" .)
