Make-up to entice, grabbing fellows on date (11)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

temperament

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'make-up' is the definition.

'entice grabbing fellows on date' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'fellows' could be 'men' (fellow can mean a man) and 'men' is found in the answer.
'on' could be 'at' (I've seen this in other clues) and 'at' is present in the leftover letters.
The remaining letters 'temper' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This explanation may well be incorrect...

'to' acts as a link.

(Other definitions for temperament that I've seen before include "Frame of mind" , "Personality" , "A person's nature as it affects behaviour" , "Piano tuning; character" , "Person's nature; adjustment in piano tuning" .)

I've seen this clue in The Telegraph.
