Makes off, seeing current end-of-year measures? (7)
I believe the answer is:
decamps
'makes off' is the definition.
(to decamp is to leave a place)
'current end-of-year measures?' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'current' could be 'amps' (I've seen this before) and 'amps' is present in the answer.
The remaining letters 'dec' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).
'seeing' is the link.
(Other definitions for decamps that I've seen before include "Folds up the tent and departs" , "Absconds" .)
