Many entertainers (5)
I believe the answer is:
hosts
'many entertainers' is the definition.
'hosts' can be an answer for 'entertainers' (host is a kind of entertainer). I'm not certain of the 'many' bit.
'many entertainers' is the wordplay.
'many' becomes 'host' (I've seen this in other clues).
'entertainers' becomes 's' (I can't justify this - if you can you should believe this answer much more).
'host'+'s'='HOSTS'
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for hosts that I've seen before include "vast crowds" , "People who entertain" , "welcomers of guests" , "They invite and entertain guests" , "Landlords" .)
