Marked for deportation in African country? (4)
I believe the answer is:
togo
'african country?' is the definition.
(country in Africa)
'marked for deportation' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'for' could be 'to' (eg both can mean 'in the opinion of') and 'to' is found within the answer.
The remaining letters 'go' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
'in' is the link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for togo that I've seen before include "West Africa country, capital Lome" , "territory of some West Africans" , "place in Africa" , "W African country" , "French-speaking West African country, capital Lome" .)
