I believe the answer is:

agra

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'indian city' is the definition.
(city in India)

'mean for name say to have an m removed' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
'name' could be 'ag' and 'ag' is found within the answer.
'an' could be 'a' and 'a' is present in the answer.
A single letter 'r' remains which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).

'in' acts as a link.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for agra that I've seen before include "Taj Mahal location" , "Indian masterpiece" , "Foreign city" , "Indian city, capital of the Mogul empire until 1658" , "city founded in 1566" .)

I've seen this clue in The Guardian.
