Ross

I believe the answer is:

element

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'member of group' is the definition.
The definition and answer can be both related to thinking as well as being singular nouns.
Perhaps there's a link between them I don't understand?

'lent me beatle's last output' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'me' is present in the answer.
'last' could be 't' (I've seen this in other clues) and 't' is found in the answer.
This may be the basis of clue (or it may be nonsense).

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for element that I've seen before include "(One's) preferred or natural environment" , "Component - factor" , "that's used in heating" , "Earth, water, air or fire" , "Constituent -- habitat" .)

I've seen this clue in The Independent.
